The restoration project and the Freschi & Vangelisti family’s dream
MARIÆ NIVIS 1567 is a family brand born from a profound desire. Specifically, the Freschi & Vangelisti family wanted to recover the spiritual heritage of an ancient monastery. From 1567 until recently, this building marked the history of a Tuscan community. Furthermore, it is located within the stunning National Park of the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona, and Campigna. The brand now aims to make Mariae Nivis 1567 known worldwide through art and a love for beauty.

Spirituality and craftsmanship for a new future
The project involves the Freschi & Vangelisti family and an ancient Dominican monastery. Their dream is to bring the structure back to its former splendor. To achieve this, they are using local raw materials and skillful artisanal craftsmanship.
In addition, the project is led by two luxury item entrepreneurs who have been partners in life and business for 25 years. Together with their daughters, they envision a new future for this complex. They see it as a place defined by attention to detail. Consequently, the monastery will become a breeding ground for unique objects that blend the past with modern innovation.
Acting with Love
Amor et ages, the brand’s motto, defines the framework of this entire project. This mission is driven by love for the family and the local community. Moreover, it reflects a deep respect for the sacred forests and the beauty of the Casentino Valley.
The word Ages is also a linguistic wordplay. It combines the names of the couple’s four daughters. Therefore, it represents the fruits of a love that knows how to welcome and unite.

Ancient Beech Forests and the Dream of Eternity
Mariae Nivis aims to recover the true spirit of the monastery founded in 1567. This foundation was possible thanks to the will of a priest and the generosity of the Company of Our Lady of the Snows. Indeed, this same spirit fosters a deep bond with the community today. It also connects the project to the sacred forest that protects the entire Casentino Valley.

A Spirit of Love in Everything
The Dominican monastery was founded in 1567 in the heart of the Casentino Valley. This land is famous for its stone parish churches and the eternal atmosphere of its paths. Notably, this is the land of St. Francis and St. Romuald’s “passion and prayer.” From these powerful concepts, the story of Mariae Nivis begins.
